Mold and tool making with the help of plastic thermoforming
Thermoforming plastic is a technique that is used in many different ways at swissplast. On the one hand, plastic molded parts are produced for prototypes and small series. On the other hand, this process can also be used in tool and mold making.
How swissplast supports your company in tool and mold making
Tool and mold making – using plastic and thermoforming
It has long been known that plastic is a first-class material for producing plastic molded parts according to precise color, shape and surface specifications. The injection molding process, which is deliberately not used at swissplast, is widely used. The reason: thermoforming is cheaper, faster and even toolmaking and mold construction from plastic is possible.

Special solutions for mechanical engineering thanks to deep-drawn parts
These arguments explain why swissplast does not use the injection moulding process and has instead specialized in plastic thermoforming – both in the production of prototypes and small series as well as in mould making, tool making and as a plastic manufacturer for many other special cases. Visually, you will not recognize any difference between toolmaking from injection moulding production and our thermoforming process.

Mold cladding through thermoforming
In the field of plastic toolmaking and mold construction, we manufacture component prototypes, tools for test series and pre-series as well as tools that we produce for you in series. One area of application here could be the production of miniature plastic housings. In order to be able to produce these in small batches after the prototype has been approved, but still at a reasonable price, we work with you from the initial concept through the development of the tool to the final implementation of the plastic tool construction.

Toolmaking and mold making through plastic thermoforming
Our profession lies in the production of molded plastic parts using the wide range of technological possibilities at swissplast. We are constantly refining this in order to be able to offer you many possibilities in plastics technology – for example through special solutions such as assembly production. We manufacture molds and tools to produce your plastic molded parts. We can also offer you these technical options.

Interesting facts about mold making with plastic parts
swissplast produces plastic parts in mold construction that are specially tailored to customer requirements and are used in various industries. Precise production techniques and modern tools are used to create molds that can be used to manufacture complex components. The company’s in-house toolmaking facility enables the flexible adaptation of molds to create high-quality prototypes and series products. This enables companies to obtain customized solutions that are optimally integrated into their production processes. This efficiency increases quality and cost efficiency in production.
swissplast is your reliable partner when it comes to the construction of plastic parts for tool and mold making. We manufacture cost-effective, on-time and sustainable cladding parts, shuttering parts or frame parts for you from high-quality plastic. We rely on the thermoforming process, which, in contrast to injection molding, can be designed to be faster, cheaper and more versatile. We also offer detailed post-processing, such as milling or drilling, using our CNC-controlled, high-precision machines. The end result of each production process is a perfectly crafted plastic part that is ideal for your tool and can be fitted immediately. Thanks to deep drawing and thermoforming, we are hardly restricted in our production methods and can produce virtually any desired shape – naturally also in toolmaking with plastic and in mold making with plastic. In thermoforming, a rectangular plastic sheet is melted and made malleable by applying heat. It is pulled over a stencil part and the air is sucked out through small nozzles. This creates an ideal image of the positive template and requires less post-processing of the plastic part. Nevertheless, we are happy to use production steps such as CNC milling for the individualization of plastic parts in toolmaking, which allows us to refine the parts and prepare them for further processing.
swissplast stands for innovative plastics technology and precise production – this also applies to the plastic parts for tool and mold making division. On the one hand, we benefit from the diverse possibilities of thermoforming and, on the other, from our conviction that the best products are created through precise work. From the selection of plastics, to the planning of molded parts in mold construction, to the production of parts and their post-processing, we carry out each individual work step with care and perfection. In the end, our customers benefit from this and our plastic parts in toolmaking bear witness to the highest Swiss and German engineering skills. Let us convince you of our products and send us an inquiry with your project in the field of plastic parts toolmaking or plastic parts mould making.
Deep drawing offers enormous design possibilities for toolmaking, as it allows complex shapes and geometries to be produced economically and efficiently. In toolmaking, this creates particularly resilient and precise shapes that are ideal for the production of customized plastic parts. With deep drawing, material properties can be optimally utilized and wall thicknesses can be precisely controlled, which has a direct impact on the quality of the end products. This flexibility enables both prototype development and series production with consistently high accuracy and lower material usage.
Mechanical engineering is faced with the challenge of developing durable, precise and lightweight components that can withstand high loads. Plastic parts offer decisive advantages here, as they are stable and robust on the one hand and lightweight and cost-efficient on the other. Modern production techniques, such as thermoforming, allow plastic parts to be individually shaped and adapted to specific requirements. This facilitates integration into complex machine designs and helps to reduce energy consumption and production costs without compromising on quality.
swissplast offers a wide variety of plastic parts that can be manufactured in different materials and dimensions up to 3000 x 2000 mm. The materials available include ABS, PMMA, polycarbonate and other high-performance plastics that are suitable for various industrial applications. The production of these parts ranges from simple basic shapes to highly complex components that meet specific technical requirements. With flexible material and size options, swissplast can provide customized solutions for a wide range of industries.
