The recycling of plastic blisters poses a particular challenge, as they often consist of different materials such as plastic and aluminum, which are difficult to separate. Blisters are often made of PVC, PET or other plastics that can only be recycled to a limited extent. To make them more environmentally friendly, we rely on monomaterials, i.e. blisters made from just one type of plastic, which are easier to recycle. This simplifies the recycling process and at the same time reduces the amount of non-recyclable end materials. With swissplast, we also remain true to our line of environmentally conscious plastics technology.

Blister packs are mainly made from plastics such as PVC, PET and PP. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is robust, flexible and protects well against moisture, but is difficult to recycle and less environmentally friendly. For this reason, we generally refrain from using PVC. PET (polyethylene terephthalate), on the other hand, is easier to recycle and offers clear transparency, making it ideal for presenting products. PP (polypropylene) is also recyclable, heat-resistant and is often used for products that require additional protection. The choice of material depends on the requirements for protection, transparency and environmental impact, with our preference for recyclable plastics.
